Yellow Perch are a secondary species of fish here on Rainy Lake and some anglers come here and won’t catch a single perch on their stay here. However, if you are fishing with live bait for walleye, you will most likely run into some perch as well. You can target them or catch them by accident while fishing for walleye. If you run into some perch, don’ t be surprised if they are good-sized ones. Many of the smaller ones get eaten up by all the walleye, pike and smallmouth bass in this lake. Jumbo-sized perch above 12 inches are possible on Rainy Lake.
