In clear water, the fishing can be easier in the spring because you can actually sight fish for perch as these fish move into the shallow in big numbers. It makes it easier for them to see your baits, which just makes it kind of easy to catch some fish. They can be spooky, so you may need to go to fluorocarbon line and keep your distance when you find a good spot, however, fishing in clear water early in the year has way more advantages than fishing later in the year.
In the summer and fall, perch will be deeper and in clear water, they may go even deeper. Don’t be surprised if you’re fishing 15 to 35 feet deep on clear water lakes in the summer and fall.
