Flounder are ambush predators that lie flat on the bottom and strike passing prey. In Pensacola, they’re targeted around docks, sandy flats, and in the passes. They’re especially popular inshore from fall through early winter when they stage for migration.


Where to Catch Flounder


In the Pensacola area, flounder are caught:

Around docks, piers, and rock jetties

On sandy and muddy bottoms near channels

At the mouths of rivers and intracoastal creeks

Drift or bounce baits slowly along the bottom for best results.
