Saltwater catfish, primarily gafftopsail and hardhead catfish, are commonly caught inshore and nearshore throughout the Palm Beaches. While not considered a prized catch, they are easy to hook and often caught while bottom fishing for other species. Their spines are sharp, so handle with care.

In inlets, bays, and near river mouths

Near bridges and docks with muddy or sandy bottoms

While bottom fishing with cut bait or shrimp
