Lake George is a popular fishing destination located in Putnam County, Florida. It is part of the St. Johns River system, which is known for its excellent largemouth bass fishery. The lake covers approximately 46,000 acres and stretching about 12 miles long. Most anglers come here to fish for big largemouth bass and there are some giants in this lake. You can also catch good numbers of largemouth bass if you choose to fish with live shiners. With artificial lures, the bite is tougher, but the spring and fall months provide better fishing with lures. Other species include bluegill, redear sunfish, crappie and striped bass.
