This is a very popular destination for fishing in the spring.  Anglers do well with largemouth bass, bream, crappie and even striped bass.  The early spring is the time to target crappie and huge largemouth bass, while the bream fishing picks up and continues to be good through May and into summer.  Some of the biggest largemouth bass are caught in March and early April.

Fishing Palatka, FL in the Summer

Month Avg. Air Temps °F (Hi/Lo)
June 91° / 71°
July 92° / 72°
August 92° / 72°

The water temperatures get hot here in the summer and it rains a lot, which makes it more challenging to get out on and enjoy a full day on the water.  Most anglers pick their spots and the better reports usually come from early morning and evening fishing trips on the area waters.

Fishing Palatka, FL in the Fall

Month Avg. Air Temps °F (Hi/Lo)
September 88° / 70°
October 83° / 62°
November 76° / 53°

The fall months bring cooler water temperatures and better fishing opportunities than in the summer months.  As waters cool towards mid-October, the fishing usually picks up and stays consistent through November.  However, this area can get some pretty harsh cold fronts for Florida, so when these roll through, it usually hurts the fishing, especially for largemouth bass.

Fishing Palatka, FL in the Winter

Month Avg. Air Temps °F (Hi/Lo)
December 70° / 46°
January 68° / 41°
February 72° / 46°

The winter is one of the most popular times to fish the area waters.  Cold fronts can definitely slow the bite down, but when you get some consistent weather or a nice warming trend for several days, the fish will usually feed pretty well.  Anglers do well with crappie, bream, largemouth bass and striped bass during the winter months.
