In the spring, anglers are excited for the striped bass fishing season to get going. While there will be reports every year of some good fish coming early in the spring, the more consistent bite gets here once water temperatures get above 50 degrees. Early to mid fall usually offers some of the best fishing of the year out of Ocean City, Maryland. The offshore charter boats are still catching pelagic species out in the Gulf Stream while the reefs and wrecks hold plenty of sea bass, triggerfish and tautog. Winter is the slowest season for fishing in the Ocean City, Maryland area. You will hear about some offshore charters heading out to the Gulf Stream current to find warmer water every once in a while, but for the most part, anglers will be catching tautog, flounder and some other fish too. Most anglers put their boats away for the winter season.
