Fishing LOTW Northwest Angle in the Spring

Month Avg. Temps °F (Hi/Lo)
March 32° / 14°
April 46° / 30°
May 60° / 45°

The spring can bring some awesome fishing, however, you have to worry about cold fronts up here in the spring.  They can make the fishing tougher and it can be a little uncomfortable fishing in the cold weather.  The spring bite does provide a good shallow water bite, which makes it easy to find the fish.  Start hitting the shorelines in the bays, around the points and the islands and you will find some fish.

Fishing LOTW Northwest Angle in the Summer

Month Avg. Temps °F (Hi/Lo)
June 70° / 57°
July 76° / 63°
August 74° / 61°

The summer is more predictable with nicer weather and most of the fish moving offshore into deeper water.  You can still find some fish shallow, but the better bite usually occurs in deeper water around the islands, off of points or on offshore structure.

Fishing LOTW Northwest Angle in the Fall

Month Avg. Temps °F (Hi/Lo)
September 65° / 53°
October 50° / 40°
November 35° / 25°

The fall brings some fish back shallow, while good numbers of them will stay deep as well.  This gives anglers more options, so if they want to fish shallow they can and if they prefer to fish deeper, that will work too.  As temperatures drop later in the fall, the offshore structures will be better than the shoreline areas.

Fishing LOTW Northwest Angle in the Winter (Ice Fishing)

Month Avg. Temps °F (Hi/Lo)
December 19° / 6°
January 15° / -2°
February 18° / -1°

Ice fishing is popular in this area with some resorts offering ice fishing shelters to the public.  It’s cold and not super easy to get here in the winter time, but if you’re looking to make the drive, the fishing can still be quite good.  Walleye, pike, perch and crappie will still bite through the winter.
