Billfish

Billfish Fishing North of Tampa Bay Coastal

Billfish, including sailfish and marlin, are rare but possible targets for deep offshore anglers fishing well beyond the coastline of Dunedin, Palm Harbor, and Tarpon Springs. These majestic fish are typically caught far offshore in bluewater conditions by those trolling for pelagic species.

Where to Catch Billfish

Billfish are found far offshore, typically in:

Bluewater areas 60+ miles from shore

Temperature breaks and strong current edges

Around weed lines and floating debris

While trolling for tuna, mahi mahi, or wahoo

Best Time to Fish for Billfish

Season Billfish Activity
Spring Sporadic action on long-range offshore runs
