Muskie

The Nestor Falls area can be good for muskie.  The fish are definitely here and some anglers report having a lot of success here.  You get a lot more pressure on this part of the lake though and the better fishing is further away in Sabaskong Bay.  You are a decent boat ride from some of the better muskie fishing.

Sabaskong Bay

If you are staying in the Nestor Falls area, just plan on making some runs to Sabaskong Bay because you will see a lot more fish in this area.  Fish the shorelines, points, bays, islands and reefs and you can target good numbers of muskie with big fish too.

Whitefish Bay

Whitefish Bay is very good for big muskie, but it can be tough to get them to bite with the deep, clear water here.  The anglers who do better here will usually fish deeper, during low light conditions and they will use fluorocarbon leaders.  Most anglers will not catch a lot of muskie here, but the big fish are here and there are decent numbers of them.

Catch Big Muskie

You can find plenty of big muskie in the area.  Closer to town, you will be targeting fish that see a lot more pressure, so it may be harder to land that fish of a lifetime.  Farther away in Sabaskong Bay and in Whitefish Bay, anglers catch some very big fish.

Fishing the Bays

There are plenty of bays to fish in the area.  Fish the vegetation in these bays and you’ll run into some muskie.  The weed lines with access to deeper water are key to finding some of the better quality fish in the bays.

Fishing the Drop-offs

Muskie love holding in deeper water near some type of shallow water cover or structure.  Whether it’s a point, an island, a reef or just a deep shoreline, targeting muskie along these drop-offs is a good pattern to fish in the summer and fall.

Fishing the Points

The points attract all kinds of fish in this area and muskie will be there too.  The points with some vegetation and some deep water nearby will usually be the better points to fish.

Fishing the Islands

You can find several islands to fish close to town, but if you head farther out into Sabaskong Bay, you will have more islands than you can fish in an entire summer.  Muskie will roam these islands all summer and fall.

Fishing the Reefs

The reefs will hold plenty of muskie in the summer time.  The better reefs to fish are a decent boat ride from town towards the main lake.

Fishing the Rocks

The weeds are usually the better pattern, but the rocks will hold muskie too.  Like we said above, the reefs are great spots to fish during the summer.  You will also find some areas with rocks mixed in with vegetation.  These are great spots to target muskie all season long.

Fishing the Weeds

Muskie love vegetation and there is plenty of it to fish in the area.  Fish the weed edges and you’ll find some muskie all summer and fall.
