The spring brings warmer waters and more fish into this area. Anglers catch plenty of redfish, sheepshead, sea trout, flounder, whiting and black drum, but they also see other fish migrating into this area. Bluefish, tarpon, cobia, pompano, jacks and sharks are just some of the fish you may catch as waters warm up in the spring. While there are several species of fish to target, snook are the main draw for most anglers here in the spring. The backcountry waters provide excellent snook habitat and it is a lot of fun targeting them in just a few feet of water around the mangroves. Don’t rule out the passes either though since snook will definitely stack up around these areas and feed aggressively during the tidal changes.
