Inshore Fishing

Naples is home to some very good inshore fishing and there are 3 main areas to fish.

Naples Bay

Naples Bay is a popular bay that has plenty of development around the bay with homes, hotels, marinas and other businesses.  There is plenty of good fishing in Naples Bay, but these fish are more pressured.  During the peak tourism seasons, you may benefit from fishing with live and natural baits in many of these areas that get more fishing pressure.

In the bay, anglers find plenty of opportunities to fish here with plenty of canals and docks to fish.  There is some deeper water found in the bay.  Anglers also have some nice mangrove-lined shorelines to fish in the part of the bay that is not developed.

The bay is a beautiful place to fish and has some very good fishing for snook and many other species of fish.  You just may see quite a few boats out there fishing too when you’re fishing this part of Naples, Florida.

Rookery Bay

Rookery Bay is completely different from Naples Bay.  This bay is a Florida reserve and it has been preserved to give people a nearly pristine subtropical, mangrove forested estuary to enjoy for today and years to come.

You won’t find all the houses and commercial development that you will find in Naples Bay.  There are plenty of people who fish Rookery Bay, especially plenty of fishing guides and charters, however, there is so much water to fish here and so many awesome mangrove areas to fish that you should have no problem finding some spots to enjoy all to yourself.  Anglers usually come here for the excellent snook fishing, but there are plenty of other fish species available as well.

Cocohatchee River

The Cocohatchee River is a tidal-dominated estuary that connects boaters to the Gulf of Mexico through Wiggins Pass.  The river is located in North Naples.  This area is beautiful and there are several upscale hotels in this part of Naples.  There is a nice park and boat launch that gives anglers access to fishing the inshore waters for snook and many other species of fish.
