While striped bass can be found in both fresh and saltwater, some of the biggest striped bass are caught in saltwater every year. In saltwater, striped bass give anglers lots of options because you can catch a giant right from the shore. Whether you target them in the surf or from a boat, they can be a lot of fun to catch.
Striped Bass Fishing in the Myrtle Beach, SC Area
Myrtle Beach is not a striped bass fishing hot spot, however, the Little River does hold some striped bass, especially in the winter months. The Little River Inlet is in North Myrtle Beach, so it is just a little drive north up the coastline from Myrtle Beach. There is a very good striped bass fishery further up the coast in nearby Wilmington, so if you want to fish for striped bass, the Cape Fear river is a better option during the winter months.
Striped Bass Fishing Tips
In saltwater, striped bass eat many different types of baits. They will eat worms, crabs, eels, clams and other fish. Many anglers prefer to catch them on lures, but at times, the live bait will be so much more effective.
