Biloxi, MS

Biloxi is located on the Gulf of Mexico.  It is a popular vacation destination because of its casinos, beaches and outstanding saltwater fishing.  The beaches lie directly on the Mississippi Sound and there are barrier islands scattered off of the coast.

The fishing is excellent in the waters off of Biloxi.  This area is known for its deep sea / offshore fishing.  There are plenty of shallow water opportunities as well with the barrier islands nearby.  There are a variety of fish to catch such as redfish, snapper, cobia, shark, grouper, and others.

Inshore Fishing

Biloxi offers some very good inshore fishing with the bay here. Like most bays on the northern part of the Gulf Coast, anglers will usually be targeting redfish and sea trout. Some of the other fish that you can catch inshore are sheepshead, ladyfish, pompano, jack crevalle, black drum and others. The tides play a huge role in whether or not you will catch fish inshore. Moving water is key for most species of fish and the slack tide usually provides the worst fishing conditions for most fish.

Nearshore Fishing

Biloxi gives anglers some nearshore opportunities as well. Target the nearshore reefs and wrecks for a variety of fish such as grouper, snapper, kingfish, Spanich mackerel and more. Fishing from spring through fall will give you the best chance to catch fish nearshore because there are more species of fish in this area during these months.

Deep Sea / Offshore Fishing

Biloxi holds its own when it comes to offshore fishing. There are plenty of charters available here to go along with several different types of fish to catch. You will find plenty of offshore structures here that will hold many different species of fish. The target species will vary depending on the seasons, but some of the popular fish that are caught offshore are grouper, snapper, cobia, amberjack, king mackerel, barracuda, sharks and others.

The Biloxi area has miles of beaches to fish from the surf and pier fishing too. Anglers will catch a variety of fish, but some of the more popular fish that anglers will catch are sheepshead, ladyfish, pompano, jack crevalle and black drum.
