Black drum are a lesser-known but locally caught species in Miami’s inshore and brackish waters. These bottom feeders are strong fighters and can grow to impressive sizes. Juveniles resemble redfish and are often found near structure, while large adults may school in deeper channels or passes.

Near bridge pilings and dock structure

In brackish backwaters and creeks

Along deeper seawalls and channels

Near inlets and causeways on bottom rigs
