Tripletail are strange-looking, delicious gamefish often found floating near buoys, crab traps, and floating debris. They blend into the structure and ambush prey, making them a great target for sight-fishing. In Mexico Beach, tripletail are most common in late spring through early fall.


Where to Catch Tripletail


In the Mexico Beach area, tripletail are found:

Around crab trap buoys and floating debris

Along channel markers and pilings

Near nearshore weed lines and drift lines

Cruise slowly and sight-cast live bait or soft plastics directly to the fish.
