Bluefish are aggressive, toothy predators that often show up in schools along the beaches and passes around Mexico Beach. They aren’t known for great table fare, but they provide exciting action with strong runs and sharp strikes. Their seasonal appearances make for quick and fun action during spring and fall baitfish migrations.

In the Mexico Beach area, bluefish are found:

Along the surf and near the jetties

In passes and inlets chasing baitfish

Occasionally around nearshore reefs

Casting spoons or jigs near schooling bait is highly effective.
