Barracuda

Barracuda Fishing in Mexico Beach, Florida

Mexico Beach offers excellent offshore access to reefs and wrecks where barracuda are known to strike. These aggressive predators deliver fast, explosive runs and are often caught while trolling or casting near structure. Though not the most targeted species, they’re a thrilling surprise for offshore anglers fishing this part of the Gulf.

Where to Catch Barracuda

Barracuda are most commonly caught around:

Artificial reefs and wrecks located 10 to 30 miles offshore

Drop-offs and ledges that attract baitfish and pelagics

Towers, buoys, and offshore structures surrounded by bait

Anglers targeting kingfish, snapper, or grouper often hook barracuda as a bonus, especially when using fast-moving lures or live bait near structure.
