Snook are not traditionally abundant in the Mexico Beach area, but warming trends have pushed their range farther north. Occasionally, snook are caught in the bays, canals, and around bridges — especially in summer. They are aggressive predators with explosive strikes and strong runs, offering a thrill for inshore anglers when found.


Where to Catch Snook


In the Mexico Beach area, snook may show up:

Near bridges, docks, and backwater creeks

Along seawalls and mangrove edges (in adjacent estuaries)

In tidal canals or warm water discharges

Live bait or twitchbaits fished near structure work best.
