Fishing Kenora in the Spring

Month Avg. Temps °F (Hi/Lo)

May 63° / 40°

The spring provides awesome fishing in shallower water.  Fish the bays and rocky shorelines for smallmouth bass, northern pike, muskie and walleye.  It’s one of the best times to fish for smallmouth bass as some anglers reporting having 50 to 100 fish days with 2 people in the boat during the spring and early summer.

The summer bite is very good here as well.  Some fish can still be caught shallower, but the better fishing is in the areas that have access to deeper water.  The fish may not always be deep, but they like deep water nearby.  Plan on fishing the main lake structure and the many islands with nicer drop-offs for bass, pike, walleye and muskie.  Some big schools of perch and crappie can be found roaming the offshore waters here too.  They aren’t always easy to find, but if you do, you can catch a lot of them in a hurry.

Fishing Kenora in the Fall

Month Avg. Temps °F (Hi/Lo)
September 62° / 43°
October 49° / 34°
November 30° / 17°

The fall fishing here can be awesome.  Many fish will move back into the shallows to follow the bait fish, however, once it gets a little later in the year and water temperatures start following into the mid to lower 50s, the offshore bite is much better.  Fish the islands and reefs for smallmouth bass, northern pike, walleye and muskie.  If you find a school of perch or crappie, you can have a blast catching many of these fish too, but you’re going to find more bass, walleye and pike here for sure depending on how you are fishing.

Fishing Kenora in the Winter (Ice Fishing)

Month Avg. Temps °F (Hi/Lo)
December 14° / -5°
January 10° / -11°

There are several businesses that cater to the ice anglers here, so you can definitely spend some time up here ice fishing.  Northern pike and walleye will bite through the ice well and you may catch some crappie and perch too.
