The spring brings warmer waters, which really gets this area going. With warmer water temperatures, the snook fishing gets a lot easier for most anglers. The migratory species start making their move, so anglers will see plenty of fish moving up along these beaches and into the inlet. In the summer, the fishing is still good, but the weather gets hot down here. Snook fishing is very good around the inlet, while the tarpon bite is very good as well. There are plenty of other fish inshore and along the beaches. Offshore, the summer months offer excellent fishing for a variety of pelagic species.

As the water temperatures cool in the fall, the bite stays strong in this area for so many different species of fish. The annual fall mullet run provides some of the most exciting fishing of the year for a variety of different species. Tarpon and snook get a lot of attention from anglers who fish inshore and near the inlet during the fall. This is the time of year to catch good numbers of fish with lots of big fish too.

The cooler winter months can provide some excellent fishing opportunities in this area since it really isn’t that cold down here. Some of the cold fronts can slow the snook fishing down, but there are plenty of other fish that are usually willing to bite even though the snook may be reluctant to feed on the colder days. Offshore, sailfish hit their peak in the winter, however, you do have to deal with the winter winds that can make the waves a lot tougher to deal in the offshore waters.
