By the spring opener here, air temperatures are getting warmer. Most of the species of fish are starting to get going, but the better bite will usually be with the walleye, pike and smallmouth bass. The largemouth bass and excellent panfish bite may be a couple of weeks away yet, but by the end of May, the fishing is usually very good here for all species of fish.

Summer temperatures are very comfortable here as many anglers enjoy fishing all day long. In June, many fish are still fairly shallow and by July, the summer patterns will set in and most fish species will be found deeper for the rest of the summer.

Ice fishing is popular here as well. Anglers have so many options with so much water here. Many of the smaller lakes that are not accessible with bigger boats will draw some interest. The anglers that don’t have boats get to experience so many awesome lakes here as they target walleye, northern pike and panfish.
