Grouper are heavyweight bottom dwellers found offshore from Fort Pierce, commonly around reefs, wrecks, and ledges. Gag, red, and black grouper are the primary targets, and they’re known for their strong fights and excellent eating quality. They’re often caught by dropping live bait straight into their structure-rich habitats.

Grouper are typically found:

Offshore reefs and natural ledges in 80–300 feet

On deep wrecks and rocky outcroppings

Near drop-offs and channel edges

Occasionally while trolling over reef zones
