Billfish, including sailfish and the occasional marlin, are prized offshore targets in the Fort Pierce area. These pelagic predators roam the deep waters off the coast and offer one of the most exciting big-game experiences Florida has to offer. Sailfish are more common and can be caught year-round, especially during their winter and spring runs.


Where to Catch Billfish


Billfish are typically found:

20–60 miles offshore in bluewater

Along temperature breaks and current edges

Near bait schools, flying fish, or weedlines

By trolling with live bait or rigged lures
