Black sea bass are a common bycatch on deep reefs and wrecks off the coast of Fort Pierce. While not often targeted directly, these fish are valued for their excellent table fare and are frequently caught while fishing for snapper or grouper on bottom rigs.

Black sea bass are found:

On offshore reefs and artificial structure

In 60–200 feet of water

Along ledges and rocky bottom

While fishing with cut bait or jigs
