Shore Fishing (Jetties, Piers, Surf)

Anglers have so much water to fish here from shore.  There are some smaller fishing piers and some shore fishing spots along the river that anglers take advantage of.  Below, we are listing some of the best spots available that give anglers more options for catching a variety of fish.  You have some large bridges and a lot of shoreline to fish here.

Fort Myers Beach Pier

The Fort Myers Beach Pier was an iconic spot to hang out, take in the beautiful scenery and catch some impressive fish, but Hurricane Ian damaged the pier and it has not been rebuilt yet.  There is supposedly a plan in place and there should be a nice fishing pier to use in the future.

Fish the Beaches

Fort Myers Beach on Estero Island is a popular vacation destination for many tourists, snowbirds as well as an awesome hangout for the locals too.  The island is home to 7 miles of white, sandy beaches.  Hurricane Ian did do some major damage to this area, however, there is beach access again and people are enjoying these beaches.  The fishing can be very good from the surf.  Anglers target snook, sharks and a variety of other fish species too.

Fish the Big Carlos Pass

The Big Carlos Pass connects Estero Bay with the Gulf of Mexico.  This pass is awesome because it can be fished from shore as well as from boat.  During the peak tourism season, this area may have quite a few anglers and boats fishing in the area.  Anglers catch snook, trout, redfish, sheepshead, sharks and many other species of fish in the pass and on both sides of the pass.

Fish the Sanibel Causeway

The Sanibel Causeway is a large bridge and it is one of the best spots to fish in this area.  There will almost always be something worth catching around the causeway.  While this is a popular spot for boaters, you can also fish several areas from shore as well.  Most anglers come here to target snapper, grouper, snook, redfish, sharks and more.
