The spring time offers some of the best fishing for a variety of fish once the walleye opener rolls around. On the better lakes in the area, walleye, perch, crappie and northern pike will be in the shallows feeding around the new green weeds and along the rocky shorelines. Early summer provides good fishing for largemouth bass, smallmouth bass and bluegill in shallower water. Some pike, walleye, perch and crappie will still be shallow, but as water temperatures warm up, some of these fish will start to move out to deeper water. There are plenty of lakes to ice fish in the area and several businesses will cater to the ice anglers all winter long. There is a lot of good fishing for panfish in the area, so many anglers will come here to fish for crappie, bluegill, perch, northern pike and some walleye too.
