Perch

Lake Nipigon used to be known as a better perch destination, but now these fish are definitely secondary.  They aren’t here in great numbers, but there are some perch in the lake and some jumbo-sized fish are here too.

If you’re interested in targeting perch in some of the other area waters, take a look below to learn more.

Black Bay

Black Bay is a warm water fishery that offers good fishing for walleye, northern pike, perch and smallmouth bass.  The water in this bay is relatively shallow with islands, reefs and plenty of weed beds.  Anglers do well in the bay from spring through fall and the ice fishing can be very good here for perch.  At the south end of the bay, anglers target cold water species of fish such as Chinook salmon and lake trout.

Nipigon Bay

Nipigon Bay offers good fishing for a variety of fish.  Anglers target brook trout, rainbow trout, lake trout, coho salmon, pink salmon, northern pike, perch, whitefish and more.

Black Sturgeon Lake

This lake is located just south of Lake Nipigon.  Anglers can fish for walleye, pike, perch and smallmouth bass.

Cox Lake

Cox Lake has a gravel road access and a boat launch.  The lake contains smallmouth bass, perch and pike.
