Shore Fishing (Jetties, Piers, Surf)

Daytona Beach Pier

The Daytona Beach Pier is a very popular spot for people to hang out, enjoy the scenery, marine life and entertainment.  It is also a popular place to fish as many anglers will be out here every day as they target a variety of fish in the waters below.

Ponce Inlet Jetty

The Ponce Inlet Jetty is a great place to do some fishing from shore.  It is not too far from Daytona Beach.  With no traffic, it’s about a 25 minute drive.  Making that same drive in traffic could add quite a bit of time to your drive though.  Many people come to the jetty to fish and at times, the fishing can be very good.  Many fish move through the inlet such as redfish, sea trout, flounder, snook, sheepshead and more.  The jetty is part of Lighthouse Point Park, which is a 52 acre preserve in Ponce Inlet.  There is an admission cost to enter the park.

Fish the Beaches

There are miles of beaches in Daytona and nearby Ormond Beach.  You can also drive a vehicle on the beach, which makes it easier for anglers to bring their fishing gear down to a preferred spot to fish.  However, this area is very busy during the travel seasons, so it may be very difficult to set a couple lines in the water during spring break and in the summer months.  If you’re going to fish the crowded beaches, you’re going to want to get out here early in the morning and then fish in the evening.  This will help you get a spot to fish.  Your other option is to fish these beaches during the non-peak travel seasons.
