While striped bass can be found in both fresh and saltwater, some of the biggest striped bass are caught in saltwater every year. Striped Bass Fishing in Chesapeake Bay
Striped bass are the most popular fish to target for most anglers that are fishing in Chesapeake Bay. From May through mid December, anglers do well with stripers in the bay. In the month of May, huge striped bass in the 20 to 40 pound range are common and bigger fish are possible. The fishing season runs from May until early December.

In saltwater, striped bass eat many different types of baits. They will eat worms, crabs, eels, clams and other fish. Many anglers prefer to catch them on lures, but at times, the live bait will be so much more effective.
