Running the Beaches
In this area, there are plenty of anglers that will go out and run the beaches off of Gasparilla and Cayo Costa to search for active fish. In this area, it is very common to see this during the tarpon migration in the spring. Other fish are caught here as well with anglers reporting catches of cobia, sharks, jacks, kingfish and more.
Nearshore Reefs & Wrecks
The Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission has a great website that allows you to see reefs and wrecks on a map. Their Interactive Map Viewer is awesome, so feel free to check that out if you’re looking to structure fish the nearshore or offshore waters off the barrier islands of Gasparilla and Cayo Costa.
