Nearshore Structure
The Crystal River area is unique in that there are lots of nearshore rocky structures that hold a lot of fish. Anglers can actually find some of these structures in clear water and sight fish for grouper. You can find structure and fish in just 8 to 10 feet of water here. There is plenty of structure as you go deeper as well. Some of the other fish you may find around the nearshore structure are mangrove snapper, sheepshead, jacks and more.
The Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission has a great website that allows you to see reefs and wrecks on a map. Their Interactive Map Viewer is awesome, so feel free to check that out if you’re looking to structure fish the nearshore or offshore waters of Crystal River, Florida.
