Learn more about the nearshore fishing in the Bradenton, Anna Maria Island and Longboat Key area.
Running the Beaches
In this area, there are plenty of anglers that will go out and run the beaches off of Anna Maria Island and Longboat Key to search for active fish. It is more common to see anglers do this during the warmer months because more fish will be in this area from late spring through early fall. Redfish, trout and black drum are in this area year round, but the warmer water brings tarpon, cobia, sharks, jacks, mackerel and more.
Nearshore Reefs & Wrecks
The Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission has a great website that allows you to see reefs and wrecks on a map. Their Interactive Map Viewer is awesome, so feel free to check that out if you’re looking to structure fish the nearshore or offshore waters off of Anna Maria Island and Longboat Key.
