Wahoo Fishing in the Tampa Bay Area
Wahoo are not very common out around Tampa Bay, Anna Maria Island & Longboat Key. While there are some anglers willing to go 100 miles out or so to target a variety of fish, wahoo are still going to be hit or miss. Some anglers do catch one, but this is definitely not a great wahoo destination.
Wahoo Fishing Tips
They are often caught in very deep water. Many offshore fishing charters will troll for other fish, but they are known to set up one rod very deep for an occasional wahoo. While some fishing charters may go out and target these fish, most of the time, wahoo are considered a bonus fish. Either way, they are a lot of fun to catch and they provide some excellent table fare.
