Inshore Fishing

Big Pine Key & the Lower Florida Keys is one of the best inshore fishing destinations in the country.  There are so many awesome places to fish where you can stay fairly close to the boat ramp in the Big Pine Key area.

Backcountry Fishing

The backcountry is the water that runs along the Florida Keys island chain.  If you are staying around land along the Florida Keys, you are fishing backcountry waters.  These waters provide good fishing for a variety of species on flats, near the mangroves, in canals, around channels and cuts.

Around Big Pine Key and the lower Keys, you have so much awesome water to fish.  There are so many islands and keys in this area to fish.  A variety of fish are caught in the backcountry waters such as barracuda, snapper, snook, sheepshead, redfish, permit and more.

Bridge Fishing

Big Pine Key is close to the southern part of the famous 7 mile bridge.  Anglers do very well by fishing from a boat and from shore around this bridge.  There are so many species of fish that move in and out of this area during tidal changes.  Anglers catch tarpon, sharks, jacks, snapper, grouper and more.  There are other bridges in this area as well, so if you want to do some bridge fishing, you have a lot of options in this part of the Florida Keys.

Flats Fishing

There are some awesome flats fishing opportunities in the area as well.  Anglers usually target permit, barracuda and bonefish on the flats, but you can find a variety of other species here too.
