Bend, Oregon is home to so many different waters to fish. Stay close or go for a drive. Either way, you have all kinds of options from lakes to streams to rivers. Below are just some of the areas that you may be fishing on a trip here.
Cascade Lakes
Anglers take the Cascade Lakes Scenic Byway to visit some remarkable mountain lakes that are known for some very good trout fishing. The scenery is worth the visit alone, however, the fishing can be just as impressive. Anglers target rainbow trout, brown trout, kokanee salmon, brook trout, cutthroat trout and even largemouth bass. There are many different lakes and the fishing will differ slightly on most of them.
Lower Deschutes River
This is the part of the Deschutes people think of when they hear someone talk about fishing the Deschutes River. The fishing can be very good for wild Redband trout, whitefish and steelhead.
Crooked River
The Crooked River is a small river that offers very good fishing for whitefish and Redband trout. It’s one of the most consistent year-round fisheries in this area for trout fishing.
McKenzie River
This river has clear water and it is home to a good rainbow fishery. Anglers can fish for wild rainbow trout and hatchery stocked rainbows. The additional stocking gives anglers a much better chance to go out and catch some fish.
Upper Deschutes River
The Upper Deschutes River starts its journey at Little Lava Lake in the shadow of Mount Bachelor. This part of the Deschutes can be good for Reband trout, brook trout and brown trout.
Fall River
The Fall River drains into the Deschutes River near the town called Sunriver. It is spring-fed and it produces some pretty good trout fishing.
Metolius River
This area is crystal clean and always runs cold. Anglers target rainbow trout, brown trout and bull trout. Trophy fish can be found here too.
Private Waters
There are some private waters here that can be accessed with fishing guides. The private waters offer anglers a relaxing fishing experience with no crowds and some very good fishing action.
