Billfish Fishing off Apalachicola, Florida


Billfish, including sailfish and marlin, are rare but possible offshore targets for adventurous anglers willing to run deep out of Apalachicola. These iconic pelagic predators are usually found far offshore along temperature breaks and deepwater structure. While not a primary target in this region, billfish are occasionally caught during long-range trolling trips or tournaments.


Where to Catch Billfish


Billfish may be encountered:

Far offshore, typically 70+ miles out

Near temperature changes and current rips

Along floating debris or weedlines

Trolling over deep drop-offs and ledges
