Sheepshead are a favorite among inshore anglers around Apalachicola for their excellent table quality and sneaky bait-stealing habits. These striped, toothy fish are found near hard structure and feed primarily on barnacles, crabs, and shrimp. Sheepshead fishing is especially popular in late winter and early spring.

Look for sheepshead near:

Bridge and dock pilings

Rock jetties and seawalls

Oyster bars and crustacean-rich structure

Tidal creeks and river mouths with rocks or pilings
