Welcome to our Almaguin Highlands Ontario Fishing Home Page

The Almaguin Highlands are located between the western boundary of Algonquin Park and the Georgian Bay / Parry Sound area of Ontario.  This area is a smaller lake destination with more lakes than you can fish in a lifetime of fishing vacations.  There are some decent-sized lakes here and this is where you will find most of the lodging options, however, some of the smaller lakes in the area are excellent lakes for catching good numbers of fish with some quality fish too.  Some people visit this area to go fish the lakes of Algonquin Park.  The fishing can be incredible depending on the lakes that you choose to fish in the park.

Primary Species of Fish

Smallmouth Bass, Largemouth Bass, Northern Pike

Most of the lakes in this area will offer good fishing for bass and northern pike.  Some lakes will be much better for largemouth bass while others will have better smallmouth bass fishing.  On some lakes, you will find good fishing for largemouth and smallmouth bass.  Northern pike are plentiful in the area and some big pike are caught from the area waters every year.

Secondary Species of Fish

Walleye, Muskie, Crappie, Perch, Sunfish

Many anglers would prefer to go out and target walleye than pike and bass, however, walleye are secondary in most of the lakes in this area.  You can still target them and catch some nice walleye, but it is definitely a lot easier to catch pike and bass in most of the lakes in the Almaguin Highlands.  Muskie are available and there are some lake trout lakes too.  There is some good panfish fishing available for crappie, perch, bluegill and other sunfish.
