Largemouth Bass

Largemouth bass are secondary on Lake of the Woods, however, anglers that fish for bass and pike in the vegetation in this area will report some impressive catches of largemouth bass.  It still isn’t considered a huge numbers destination, but if you know how to target largemouth bass, you should catch some and your odds of running into a bass in the 3 to 4 pound range is pretty good.

Fishing the Bays

Fish the vegetation in the bays and make sure you have a heavy enough leader to keep the pike from breaking your line.  The pike will usually be mixed in with the largemouth bass.  You will most likely get more pike bites than largemouth bass, so be prepared.  Some of the best largemouth bass bays in all of Lake of the Woods are found in the Sioux Narrows area.
