Sam Rayburn Lake is located on the Angelina River. There is a dam located in Jasper County approximately 15 miles north of Jasper, Texas. This lake has more than 114,000 surface acres with a maximum depth of 80 feet. Sam Rayburn Lake is a very popular largemouth bass fishing lake.

Largemouth bass get the most attention here with good numbers and lots of big bass too. The fishery is also very good for crappie, catfish, bluegill and other sunfish too.

White bass are here in limited numbers, but the spring fishing is good here during their annual spawn.
