Welcome to Our Polk County, WI Fishing Home Page

Polk County, Wisconsin offers anglers some very good fishing opportunities, however, many anglers have not even heard of this part of Wisconsin.  Located fairly close to Minneapolis, the St. Croix River separates Wisconsin from Minnesota.  There are a lot of people that live in Minneapolis, however, there is so much good fishing over there that most people do not even bother heading over to Wisconsin to fish the lakes in Polk County.  Largemouth bass, northern pike and panfish dominate this county, however, muskie are available too with smallmouth bass and walleye rounding out the fishery.

Primary Species of Fish

Polk County has so many lakes that offer good fishing for largemouth bass.  Many of those lakes also are very good for northern pike.  Some of the area lakes have some very good panfish opportunities as well.  You can find crappie, bluegill and perch in the area waters.  Many of these smaller lakes do not receive the fishing pressure that some of the more popular tourism areas in Wisconsin receive, so you should be able to find some places to have good action with an occasional big fish too.

Secondary Species of Fish

Polk County is definitely a better largemouth bass, pike and panfish destination, however, there are several lakes where you can fish for muskie too.  Walleye are available in many bodies of water here, but don’t expect to find huge numbers of them.  Smallmouth bass are not prevalent here, but you can definitely catch some nice smallmouths on the St. Croix River.  Besides the river, Pipe Lake is probably your best bet for smallmouth bass in Polk County.
