The summer brings tougher fishing and more pleasure boaters, but there are plenty of lakes in the area with less pressure and on the more popular lakes in the area, you can always find some spots to yourself early in the morning and in the evening.  Fish deeper and find the deep weed edges to have more success once it gets hot.

September 70° / 47°

The fall brings some awesome fishing opportunities.  Many fish will move back into the shallows making it easier to find and catch them.  There will usually be a strong bite all the way through fall until water temperatures drop into the 50s.  The largemouth bass will be tougher to catch when waters cool off that much, but the northern pike, walleye and panfish will bite all the way until ice up.  Mille Lacs Lake and Leech Lake offer some awesome fall fishing and they aren’t too far away.

Many anglers get out in the winter to do some ice fishing in the area.  The panfish, walleye and pike will still bite and several of the area lakes will have some decent to solid fishing through the winter.
