Welcome to Our Oconto County, WI Fishing Home Page

Oconto County, Wisconsin is an excellent fishing destination.  For many anglers, it is all about Green Bay and the area tributaries.  The walleye fishing can be excellent on the bay out of the Oconto area.  There are plenty of other lakes to fish in the county as well.  This area is one of the better areas in Wisconsin to target so many different species of fish to go along with trophy fish potential too.

Primary Species of Fish

Oconto County offers anglers so many opportunities for targeting quality fish.  Smallmouth bass, walleye and muskie get a lot of attention here with walleye being the preferred fish for most anglers that get out and fish Green Bay.  Northern pike can be found in the area rivers and lakes.  There are some very large northern pike caught out on the bay every year too.  Largemouth bass are common on many of the smaller lakes in the county.  You have a lot of options here depending on the time of year.

Secondary Species of Fish

Panfish are secondary to the awesome walleye fishing in this area, however, many people enjoy fishing for a variety of panfish on the inland lakes.  If you can find the perch out on Green Bay, you can get into some giants, but it isn’t easy to find the schools of perch.  If you run into a large school of them, you can catch a bunch of big ones in a hurry.  On many of the inland lakes, anglers will target bluegill, crappie and perch.  Plan on sorting through the smaller ones to find some quality fish to take home.
