Welcome to our Niagara Region Fishing Home Page

The Niagara Region is a popular area due to the Niagara Falls.  Visitors view the falls from the New York and Ontario side and it is a pretty cool tourism area.  You will find plenty to do here from sightseeing, shops, dining and for the anglers, this is an amazing area to do some fishing.

Lower Niagara River

The lower part of the river, from Devil’s Hole to the Niagara Bar, is a good spot for salmon and trout.   This part of the river empties into Lake Ontario and the cool waters are home to coho salmon, King salmon, lake trout, brown trout and some huge steelhead too.  In the summer, water temperatures warm and the smallmouth bass fishery is outstanding for numbers with quality fish too.  Muskie are available in the Lower Niagara River and some big fish are caught here every year.

Upper Niagara River

The Upper Niagara River is a good place to fish for steelhead, walleye and lake trout in the winter through early spring.  From late spring through fall, smallmouth bass and walleye are the most common fish.  There are a lot of smallmouth bass in the river during this time and lots of big fish too.  Walleye are found here all summer and in the fall as well.  Some very nice walleye are caught in the river every year.  Muskie are available in the Upper Niagara River and some big fish are caught here every year.

Lake Erie / Buffalo, NY Area

This part of Lake Erie is home to some incredible smallmouth bass fishing.  Good numbers of them are available and big fish are here too.  Smallmouth bass in the 4 to 5 pound range are fairly common.  Lake Erie is loaded with walleye, so if you go out with a charter, you should be able to catch a bunch of nice walleye as well.

Lake Ontario

The fishing is very good on Lake Ontario out around the mouth of the Niagara River.  This area is still in the state of New York and it is known as one of the top fishing spots in the Great Lakes for salmon, steelhead, brown trout and lake trout.
