The Minneapolis Metro area is an outstanding destination for fishing. This is one of the best metro areas in the country for fishing. You have all kinds of every day comforts to go along with good fishing for so many different species of fish pretty much every direction from Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Primary Species of Fish
Largemouth Bass & Northern Pike
This area has some very good fishing for largemouth bass and northern pike. On many of the lakes in this area, you can catch good numbers of largemouth bass and pike. On some of the better waters, big pike and big largemouth bass in the 3 to 5 pound range are possible here.
Secondary Species of Fish
Smallmouth Bass, Walleye, Muskie, White Bass, Perch, Crappie & Bluegill
Depending on where you fish, you may be able to target other fish such as smallmouth bass, walleye, muskie, white bass, perch, crappie and bluegill. On some waters, some of these fish will be abundant. However, if you are looking to target smallmouth bass, walleye or muskie, your options are somewhat limited. Take a look at our area waters page though because there are good fishing options for most species of fish here. You just need to find the right lake or river to fish for what you’re looking for. It’s definitely more of a largemouth bass and northern pike destination though.
