Welcome to Our Iron County, WI Fishing Home Page

Iron County is home to the Turtle Flambeau Flowage. If you are looking for a more remote fishing trip without having to drive all the way to northern Minnesota or Canada, this area might be the destination for you. The Turtle Flambeau Flowage is the big draw here, however, there are plenty of smaller lakes in the Mercer area to fish as well.  The water up here is murky in many of the lakes, so plan on using a lot of brighter jigs or lures when fishing here.

Primary Species of Fish

Iron County is home to some very good fishing for walleye, smallmouth bass and northern pike.  Most anglers will turn to the Turtle Flambeau Flowage when targeting these species of fish, but you can catch these types of fish in many of the lakes in this county.

Secondary Species of Fish

The area lakes are also home to plenty of muskie and largemouth bass.  On many of the lakes, muskie will be more of action lakes with smaller fish available, but there are some bigger fish here too.  Largemouth bass can be found in many of the smaller lakes and the fishing can be quite good for them on several of the lakes.
