Welcome to our Holland, MI Fishing Home Page
Holland is a coastal city in the western region of the Lower Peninsula of Michigan. It is home to Hope College and Western Theological Seminary, institutions of the Reformed Church in America. This area is beautiful with Lake Michigan, Lake Macatawa and Holland State Park. Outdoor recreation is very popular here with some excellent salmon and trout fishing too.
Salmon & Trout Fishing
Holland, Michigan offers some good salmon and trout fishing out of this port. Anglers target chinook salmon, coho salmon, lake trout, steelhead and brown trout in the waters of Lake Michigan. You will find plenty of charters that operate out of Holland to help you plan a trip.
Bass Fishing
Some anglers target smallmouth bass on Lake Michigan, but salmon and trout are definitely the primary species of fish here. You can also fish Lake Macatawa, which is connected to Lake Michigan, for smallmouth bass. It’s a tough lake to fish for bass for most anglers, but largemouth bass and smallmouth bass are in the lake. White bass are in the lake too and they are usually easier to catch if you can find the schools and you know how to fish for them.
Perch Fishing
Perch fishing can be good offshore in Lake Michigan and there are some charters and other anglers that do target them. Perch can also be found in Lake Macatawa.
Lake Macatawa
This lake is connected to Lake Michigan. If you fish the channel that connects the two, you never know what you’re going to catch. The lake has largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, bluegill, perch, white bass, catfish and walleye. It’s not a very deep lake, so don’t expect to find the salmon and trout like you would find on some of the other lakes on the coastline that connect to Lake Michigan.
