Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin is located in the northwest part of Wisconsin about 90 miles east of St. Paul, Minnesota. It’s small town atmosphere, beautiful scenery and numerous lakes in Chippewa County make the Chippewa Falls area a great place for a vacation. Chippewa County has hundreds of lakes and numerous trout streams. The county has 21,037 acres of lakes and streams and over 310 miles of rivers and streams.

Primary Species of Fish
The Chippewa Falls Flowage and Lake Wissota are good places to start if you are looking to target walleye. There are plenty of other lakes in the Chippewa Falls, WI area to target walleye as well. The Chippewa Flowage and Lake Wissota are good muskie waters and they are known for not just producing good numbers, but some big fish too.
The Chippewa Falls Flowage and Lake Wissota help make up for the lack of lakes with smallmouth bass. Lake Wissota offers good fishing for smallmouth bass with the opportunity to catch a bass in the 18 to 21 inch range.
This area has plenty of lakes that offer good fishing for largemouth bass. The majority of these lakes are located north of the town in or near the Chippewa Moraine State Recreation Area.
The northern pike fishing is good in the Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin area. Lake Wissota is located right in town and it is a good lake for northern pike. There are many other lakes to fish for pike and most of these lakes are located north of the town of Chippewa Falls in or near the Chippewa Moraine State Recreation Area.
Secondary Species of Fish
The area waters are home to a variety of panfish. Anglers catch perch, crappie and bluegill here. Plan on having to sort through plenty of smaller fish to find enough bigger fish to bring home for a fish fry.
