Perch

Both bays used to be known for its excellent spring perch fishing.  While you may not find the numbers of perch like in the past, anglers do still catch plenty of perch while targeting walleye.  In the spring, perch move into the shallows to spawn.  Fish the mouths of the rivers and any of the newly growing green weeds and you have a shot at finding some of these fish.  When water temperatures warm up, perch will often spend a lot of time in very deep water in the Great Lakes, so they can be difficult to find.  Anglers that target the deeper weed edges will usually be the ones to find some quality perch from summer through fall.
